They were facing a lot of downtime on these mission critical applications which were affecting their productivity very badly. Common causes of downtime included hardware failures (such as hard disk, etc.), internet failure, etc. On one occasion, a power failure caused corruption of their business applications, and it took almost 3 days to bring their setup up and running, and that too partially.
As a trusted technology advisor to TVS Emerald, Quadra analyzed their entire setup along with their key business needs. Our consultants suggested that they move all the workloads to Azure. Accordingly, Quadra proposed and implemented Azure PaaS services for their company web hosting and for their CRM applications. Since this was a managed platform service delivered by Microsoft, we helped them to avoid administration and management overhead.
On the other hand, we could not move their ERP to Azure PaaS services because of monolithic design. A move to PaaS would involve changes in architecture and coding, apart from a substantial amount of effort and time. Hence, we proposed Azure IaaS as a better fit considering the customer’s requirements. We used Azure Migrate (server migration) to migrate their ERP Server running on Windows Server to Azure VM with very minimal downtime. We also setup Azure Site Recovery to ensure continuous replication of the production environment to a secondary region on Azure to ensure business continuity at all times.
By deploying their web and CRM applications on Azure PaaS services which are fully managed and maintained by Microsoft, TVS Emerald were able to achieve high levels of reliability and availability, with an SLA-backed uptime of 99.95 percentage.
With their ERP hosted on Azure IaaS, we could enable continuous replication to a secondary Azure region. In the event of a failure of primary site, TVS Emerald could bring up the secondary site in minutes thus ensuring business continuity.
To further reduce IT overhead and optimize costs, Quadra had onboarded TVS Emerald to Quadra’s managed services umbrella (Max-IT), thus freeing up their IT team’s time from day to day tasks, enabling them to focus on value added services and business innovation.
