A leading and well respected publishing house in South India had a rich history of 60+ years in chronicling local, national and world affairs. Family run yet professional managed, they were keenly aware of the changing preferences among readers and the onslaught of online and digital media, they were keeping pace with innovative layout, design and aesthetics across all its publications. The stumbling block - their internal IT infrastructure, which was an entire generation behind. When the customer approached us with an agenda to build a robust and scalable IT infrastructure, we set about a comprehensive system study and business assessment. Their desktops were in workgroups and ran mixed client operating systems. With no central storage, files were stored locally. Frequent system crashes and unmanaged end points with no centralized backup solution were proving to be a severe drain on end user and IT productivity.
We recommended a complete revamp of their network, with Windows Server 2012 at the heart of the proposed architecture, along with structured review, design and consultancy services. Our infrastructure consulting team implemented virtualized critical infrastructure servers like AD, DNS and file servers. They segregated users based on organization roles and data access requirements, and enabled centralized management of security policies with GPO.
Our consultants also recommended a centrally managed, policy driven end point management solution for malware and threat protection. Along with single click policy enforcement, this meant simplified user and resource management for administrators. We helped reconfigure and deploy line of business applications in the new infrastructure, and devised a centralized data storage and backup plan. As part of our holistic client engagement, we also delivered comprehensive admin and end user training on the newly implemented network to help them take fullest advantage of features and functionality.
Our customer now had a scalable and reliable platform to build their next generation publishing platform in a secure and well managed manner. As a direct result of the implementation, they realized several benefits, including comprehensive, centralized management that increased uptime to 99.9%. Users spent 50% less time searching for data, and with roaming profiles, they could access their data from any desk. Data loss was a thing of the past, as all data was now centrally stored on file servers and backed up. Granular access to data and applications meant that data confidentiality and integrity could be maintained. From a peace of mind perspective, security incidents were completely eliminated owing to robust design and end point management.
